Ironically, choosing make-up when you’re over seventy is much like it is when you’re a teenager. Using products that help you achieve a natural look is the best way of enhancing your appearance.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Lipstick
  • Blush
  • Foundation
  • Lipliner
  • Eyeshadow
  • Concealer
  • Eyeliner
  1. Step 1

Choose a tinted moisturizer or a moisturizing cream-based foundation that matches your skin tone.

  2. Step 2

Select a brow pencil for filling in your brows if they need touching up.

  3. Step 3

Choose cream-based eyeshadow in light, neutral shades for daytime use, and darker complementary colors for a more dramatic evening look.

  4. Step 4

Choose lipstick and lip-liner in shades that complement your skin and hair. Choose creamy lipsticks with added moisturizer, but avoid those with a glossy or satin finish.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose products that hydrate the skin whenever possible.
  • The colors that look best in your seventies won’t necessarily be the same as those you’ve used in earlier stages of your life. If you’re uncertain which colors suit you best, find help at the makeup counter of a large department store.
  • Choose cream-based products over powder whenever possible. Creamy foundations and eye shadows are much less likely to collect in creases and lines. However, be aware that creamy eye shadows may require more frequent touch-ups.
  • If you decide to use mascara and eyeliner, choose brown or brown-black mascara and eyeliners in olive, gray or brown. Go for the lighter colors rather than darker ones, as these will tend to close up the eye area.
  • Avoid eye shadows in metallic or frosted shades. These tend to accentuate and draw attention to the fine lines around eyes.
  • Gloss and satin lip colors tend to be more prone to bleeding into the lines around the lips, even when you use lip-liner.
