Sleeping in your makeup is never a good idea, since it creates unhealthy conditions for your skin. However, in some cases, such as when traveling on an early plane, this may be necessary. Whenever possible do not sleep in your makeup, but if you must, learn how to apply makeup to sleep in so that you look your best when you wake up.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Foundation
  • Lip gloss
  • Blush
  • Brushes and sponges
  • Concealer
  • Waterproof Mascara
  1. Step 1

Even out your skin tone using a foundation that matches your natural color. You may need to apply concealer to cover blemishes missed by the foundation.

  2. Step 2

Use a blush the color of your natural flushed color and apply it using a large brush and a sweeping motion on the apples of your cheeks.

  3. Step 3

Use powder to set the makeup so it has less chance of rubbing off.

  4. Step 4

Skip most of the eye makeup, since it will probably rub off as you sleep.

  5. Step 5

Apply mascara to define your eyes. Long-lasting and waterproof will work best to avoid smudging.

  6. Step 6

Use a lip gloss rather than a lip color.

  7. Step 7

Carry your makeup bag to reapply makeup when you wake up. If possible, wash your face and reapply your makeup completely.

Tips & Warnings

  • Test all new products on a patch of your skin before using on your face to make sure they do not cause any irritation or allergic reactions.
