    Reducing Skin Redness

  1. Step 1

Use a protective sunscreen daily to prevent burning.

  2. Step 2

Test new skin care products on a small patch of skin on your forearm before using on your face. A product might be causing an allergic reaction, and in turn, the redness.

  3. Step 3

Dab toothpaste on red pimples to help dry them out.

  4. Step 4

Use soaps and cleansers made specifically for your skin type. These do not have to be prescription strength, but if they are made for your skin type, they will be gentler.

  5. Step 5

Look for products that include the following ingredients: azadirachta indica, tea tree oil, lavender essential oil, oleum malalauca, calendula officinalis and symphytum. These ingredients are all found in over-the-counter products and will help to reduce redness.

  6. Step 6

Apply treatment for redness several times every day.

  7. Step 7

Use ice to reduce any swelling related to redness from popping a pimple.

Tips & Warnings
  • If your condition worsens or does not go away, see a dermatologist.
