Things You'll Need:
- microphone
- computer
- podcasting software
- web server
- a love of food and a desire to share it with others
-
Step 1
Think about organization. What do you want to focus on? A particular type of food? Creating new fusion dishes? Do you want to target beginners or cooking fanatics?
-
Step 2
When you plan out your podcast, you want to have a loose script. Think about the cooking shows on TV. You probably want to have a pace like that, but the advantage of the podcast is that it may be more convenient, and that eventually, you build up enough episodes that it's very easy for your listener to pick exactly what they want to make at that moment, instead of having to wait for an episode to air on the Food Network.
-
Step 3
Once you're ready, hook up your microphone to your computer and start recording.
-
Step 4
Convert your recording into an mp3 file, if it doesn't do so automatically.
-
Step 5
Open up a podcasting software program so you can edit your podcast and add features. Add chapters so listeners can jump back and forth in between sections if necessary.
-
Step 6
Art, for a cooking podcast in general, would be a nice addition for the people who are listening to it on their computers or their ipods. Show the ingredients. Help your listeners visualize the steps so they know they're doing it correctly.
-
Step 7
Don't forget to fill in the ID3 tags. This is where you fill out the author, title, description, so readers can search for you and know what they are listening to.
-
Step 8
After you're done, put the file onto a server, and then you can take the links and publish them onto your webpage.
-
Step 9
When you have enough episodes, create an RSS feed for your listeners so they can conveniently subscribe to your podcasts.
