The rehearsal dinner is the official start of the wedding weekend and sets the tone for the remainder of the festivities. Follow these steps to be sure that the dinner goes smoothly.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Draw or print a map from the site of the rehearsal to the rehearsal dinner so that everyone has accurate directions.
Step2
Schedule the rehearsal dinner to begin an hour and a half after the start of the rehearsal. If the restaurant is more than twenty minutes from the rehearsal site, allow additional travel time.
Step3
Plan to have cocktails for the first 30 to 45 minutes of the rehearsal dinner to accommodate latecomers.
Step4
Expect the dinner to last for at least an hour.
Step5
If the diners will be seated, request that the courses be served 15 minutes apart except for the main course, which should be at least 30 minutes long.
Step6
Begin toasts as the last course is ending. Generally, several people will want to toast the bride and groom.
Step7
If there is a band and the guests will be invited to dance, start the dancing right after the toasts. The host and hostess should be the first to dance.
Step8
The host and hostess should end the evening with a few words to the entire party. Not only is this a polite gesture, but it will also let everyone know that the evening has come to an end.
