How to Make Lego Waffles for a Lego-Themed Party

If you are hosting a Lego-themed party for your child, waffles are the perfect food. They look like Legos and they're fun to eat. Making colored waffles is simple and they're sure to be a hit.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tablespoons of regular white sugar
  • 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 cups flour
  • Butter
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • Syrup
  • 3 tbsp. melted shortening
  • Waffle Iron
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • Yellow, green, red and blue food coloring
  • Cooking spray
  1. Step 1

    Preheat the waffle iron by plugging it in.

  2. Step 2

    Get your ingredients together. You will need 2 eggs, 2 tbsp. sugar, 3 tbsp. melted shortening, 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. vanilla extract, butter, 1 3/4 cups of milk, 3 1/2 tsp. baking powder, 2 cups flour, food coloring (yellow, green, red and blue) and butter and syrup for serving.

    Use an electric mixer to beat the eggs and sugar together until fluffy.

    Add the milk, melted shortening, salt and vanilla.

  5. Step 5

    Blend together well.

  6. Step 6

    Sift the baking powder and flour together in a separate bowl.

  7. Step 7

    Add the flour mixture to egg mixture and stir well.

  8. Step 8

    Separate the batter into four bowls, one for each color.

  9. Step 9

    Add 5 to 6 drops of food coloring per two cups of waffle mix. Adjust the color to your preference.

  10. Step 10

    Spray the waffle iron with cooking spray before each batch.

  11. Step 11

    Spoon 2/3 cup of batter into the hot waffle iron.

  12. Step 12

    Close the lid on the waffle iron and cook until there is no steam coming out of the iron and the waffles are crisp.

    Cut the waffles into small peices so they look like Legos.

  14. Step 14

    Place the waffles in a warm oven as you make them.

  15. Step 15

    Serve the waffles with syrup and butter.

Tips & Warnings
  • By cutting the big waffle squares into smaller pieces, the kids will be able to have one of each color.
