5. Ask your doctor about the factors affecting your risk. You may find your risk level can be determined by the amount, size, shape and source of the asbestos you're exposed to.

6. Take an active role in reducing the threat of asbestos on your health. You can speak with your supervisor about the possibility of testing your work place for the presence of asbestos and coming up with preventive measures, such as mandatory face masks, to reduce your risk.
