Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Start with a physical examination. This will help the doctor learn whether your symptoms indicate Hodgkin's disease, a minor infection or a less dangerous illness.
Step2
Have your doctor examine your medical history as well. Sometimes symptoms from previous examinations can be overlooked because of their lack of severity. Many of Hodgkin's disease's symptoms mimic other ailments.
Step3
Have your lymph nodes rechecked for swelling or lumps. Lymph nodes that have been enlarged for a long time are one of the clearest indicators of a problem.
Step4
Expect to have a biopsy performed on any abnormal tissue. This requires surgery, but it is the surest way to learn if malignant tissue is present in your lymphatic system. A biopsy involves the removal and examination of a sample of abnormal tissue from your lymphatic system.
