How to Enable Java in Opera
Being able to use most Web sites and take part in modern day Web browsing usually requires that the Java programming language be enabled. Java was created in the early 1990s by programmers at Sun Microsystems and has become a very popular programming language. The Opera Web browser is a state-of-the-art piece of software that gives you the option to enable Java or not.

Open the Opera Web browser and click on the 'Tools' drop-down menu if you are on a Windows-based system. Highlight 'Preferences' and click on it. Mac users must click on the 'Opera' drop-down menu at the top of the browser window. Then scroll down and click on 'Preferences.'

See the preferences box open and click on the 'Advanced' tab for both Windows and Mac users. Then navigate to the content section by clicking on 'Content,' which will be on the left-hand side of the box.

Wait for the new options to appear, then check the box next to 'Enable Java' and finally click on 'Ok' in the lower right-hand corner to enable Java on your computer. This step applies to both Windows and Mac users.

Tips & Warnings
Be sure you have the minimum system requirements for your computer before downloading Opera. Windows users must have at least 20 MB of free disk space and Windows 95 or higher. Run OS X Jaguar (10.2) or higher on a Mac. For Linux users you'll need the Standard C++ Library and an X11R6.3+ implementation.

These steps were written with version 9.10 of the Opera browser in mind. Applying these directions to and older version will more than likely not work properly.
