How to Erase Your Cached Logins and Passwords in Konqueror

One of the great conveniences of today's Web browsers is their ability to store your login and password information for various Web sites. When these logins and passwords are cached, they will automatically appear in the appropriate boxes when you visit the Web site with which they are associated. This means you don't have to remember them, and you don't have to enter them manually with each visit. However, these cached logins and passwords are stored on your computer, which means someone with technical know-how could potentially access them. This is why Konqueror allows you to erase your cached login and password information.

Things You’ll Need:

• Internet access
• Computer with a Unix operating system

1. Go to your computer and turn it on.
2. Open up Konqueror.
3. Select 'Run Command.'
4. Type in the command 'kdesu -s.'
5. Hit 'Enter.' Konqueror has now forgotten your stored logins and passwords.

Tips & Warnings

• Download Konqueror from the Konqueror Web site (see Resources below).
• You must have a Unix-based operating system to use Konqueror.

• Protect yourself online by installing suitable virus elimination software and spyware blockers. Konqueror automatically blocks the installation of third-party cookies on your computer. If you want to allow third-party cookies to be accepted, you must instruct Konqueror to do this.
