If you spend any kind of time on the Internet, you probably have a favorite page that you like to see when you open up your Web browser. For many people, this is a news page or their personal Web page, but it could be any sort of page that you like to check in with frequently. When you set your Web browser to open up on your chosen page, this page becomes known as your home page. Your home page is as personal and unique as you are, and can be an important part of your overall Internet experience. You can set Konqueror to open on your chosen home page.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Computer that is Unix-compatible

Turn on your computer and open up Konqueror.

Tips & Warnings

  • You need a Unix-based operating system to use Konqueror.
  • Download Konqueror at Konqueror.org (see Resources below).
  • Should you find yourself with further questions regarding how to set your home page in Konqueror, go to the Konqueror FAQ page (see Resources below).
  • You can select any Web page you like to be your home page in Konqueror. You can also change your preferred home page in Konqueror at any time by repeating the steps below.
  • If you prefer to have no home page load when you open Konqueror, you can set it to do this, too. Just open a Web browser window and type in 'about: blank,' then follow the remaining steps to set a home page. The next time you open Konqueror, no specific home page will load.
  • These steps were written for Konqueror 3.5.2. If you're using a different version, some or all of these steps may differ.
  • Konqueror has been designed with your privacy in mind. This is why Konqueror will not accept third party cookies from any Web site unless you specifically tell it to do so. When your Web browser accepts third party cookies, it is allowing cookies from unknown, outside Web sites to install themselves on your computer. These cookies are used to monitor your browsing habits remotely, so it is a good idea to always know where the cookies originated. If you want Konqueror to accept outside cookies, you must manually instruct it to do so.
