How to Personalize Your Netscape Browser

Personalize your Netscape browser easily on the newest 8.1.2 version. You can add themes and plug-ins to add to your Web browser's functionality, as well as import your details from another Web browser to simplify personalizing your Netscape browser.

Things You’ll Need:

• PC with Internet access

Add a Theme to Your Netscape Browser

1. Go to Netscape's Theme Park to view themes (see Resources below).
2. Click on the Modern Modoki 2.01 theme.
3. Click on 'Install Now' to start installing your Netscape theme.
4. Select Modern Modoki in the pop-up window and then click on the 'Use Theme' button.
5. Restart Netscape to view the applied theme.

Import Your Details from Another Web Browser

6. Click 'File' and then click on 'Import' to begin importing your details and settings from another Web browser.
7. Click on the radio button that represents the Web browser you would like to import your details from.
8. Choose the appropriate radio button and click 'Next.'
9. Check off the areas that you would like to import to Netscape.
10. Click 'Next' to import your selections and then wait while they are imported.
11. Click on the 'Finish' button to complete your task.

Get Plug-ins to Personalize Netscape

12. Navigate to Netscape's pages of browser plug-ins (see Resources below).
13. Browse the plug-ins and choose one that will increase the functionality of your browser.
14. Click on the link of the plug-in you would like to install.
15. Wait while you are redirected to the main page of the plug-in. Click 'Download Now' to download your plug-in and personalize your Netscape Web browser.

Tips & Warnings

• You can get Netscape 8.1.2 on Netscape's Web site (see Resources below).
• Make sure your computer meets minimum requirements for Netscape 8.1.2. The newest version of Netscape includes a Windows 98 SE, Windows 98 ME, Windows XP or Windows 2000 system, complete with a 233 MHz processor, 64 MB of RAM and 35 MB of hard drive space.
• Look for help on Netscape's support page (see Resources below).
• Protect yourself from spyware by using Netscape's free Full System Scan.
• If you have an automatic update system for an earlier version of Netscape, you won't receive an automatic update for the new standalone Netscape 8.1.2. It must be installed separately.
• This guide is intended for Netscape 8.1.2. The steps could be different if you're using an older version of Netscape.
