How to Download and Install Netscape

Downloading and installing Netscape is a snap. Gone are the lengthy instructions and confusing installation processes. Netscape has made its Web browsers highly user-friendly, so even beginners can download and install Netscape easily, too.

Download Netscape

1. Navigate to Netscape's home page to locate the newest version of this Web browser (see Resources below).

2. Click on the 'Free Download' button to initiate the download process.

3. Click the 'Save As' button, which will be in the prompt box that appears on your screen.

4. Wait until Netscape has downloaded. It will appear in a Download Manager pop-up as a link. Click the link 'Netscape 8.1.2' to continue the installation.

Install Netscape

1. Click on 'Next' to begin installing your new Netscape Web browser. This button will be in a pop-up installation window.

2. Read the Terms and Conditions, which will appear in a specified field in the pop-up window. After reading it, click on the 'I Agree' radio button to confirm that you agree with Netscape's stipulations.

3. Click the 'Next' button again to continue with the installation process.

4. Type your zip code into the specified field. This will provide Netscape with your location.

5. Click on the 'Install' button to install Netscape version 8.1.2.

Launch Netscape

1. Click on the 'Start' button on your computer.

2. Highlight 'All Programs' and then navigate to the new Netscape icon in the menu.

3. Click on the 'Netscape' button to launch a new browser window.

Personalize Netscape

1. Create a personalized toolbar in your newly installed Netscape Web browser. First click on 'Tools' and select the 'Toolbars' option.

2. Click on the 'Add Toolbar' button to add a toolbar to your personalized Netscape page.

3. Type the name of the toolbar into the specified field in the prompt window.

4. Click on the 'OK' button to complete the creation of your new toolbar.
