How to Delete the Memory Cache on Netscape

A memory cache is a collection of previously collected data that your computer accesses more easily when performing requests. However, it can be advantageous to delete your memory cache from time to time to not only protect your safety, but also to delete temporary files and free up space. Fortunately, it's a fast and simple task.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • PC with Internet access

    Install Netscape

  1. Step 1

    Enter Netscape's Web page to find the newest Web browser version (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Click on the 'Free Download' button.

  3. Step 3

    Click the 'Save As' button in the prompt box.

  4. Step 4

    Choose the link found in the Download Manager.

  5. Step 5

    Click the 'Next' button to continue with the installation.

  6. Step 6

    Read the Terms and Conditions listed in the field, and if you agree, select the I Agree button. You will not be permitted to complete the download process right away if you do not agree to the terms.

  7. Step 7

    Click the 'Next' button.

  8. Step 8

    Type your zip code into the field provided and then click 'Install.'

  9. Set Up Autofill

  10. Step 1

    Click on 'Tools' in the menu. Select 'Options.'

  11. Step 2

    Select 'Autofill' in the pop-up window that will appear. Turn off any pop-up blockers you may have running if the window does not appear.

  12. Step 3

    Click on 'Preferences' and check your selections for Autofilling.

  13. Step 4

    Click 'OK' to verify your choice.

  14. Delete Your Passwords

  15. Step 1

    Click on 'Tools' and then 'Options.'

  16. Step 2

    Click on 'Privacy.'

  17. Step 3

    Click on 'Password Manager.'

  18. Step 4

    Click the 'Clear' button. This will permanently delete your saved passwords.

  19. Step 5

    Click the 'OK' button.

  20. Delete Your Memory Cache

  21. Step 1

    Click on 'Tools' on your menu and then click on 'Options.'

  22. Step 2

    Click on 'Privacy.' This will be found in the section labeled 'Privacy and Security.'

  23. Step 3

    Click on 'Cache' and then click the 'Clear' button.

  24. Step 4

    Click on 'OK' to complete the task.
