If you run into any problems while running the Safari Web browser, such as Web pages that fail to load properly, features that don't work right, or other technical issues that you can't seem to solve, you have the ability to report those problems and send feedback directly to Apple's technical staff. Safari allows users to send a brief description of the problem, as well as an address and screenshot of the Web page they were viewing when the problem arose.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Internet access
  • Macintosh computer running OS 10.4 or greater
  • Safari 2.0 Web browser

Report Problems to Safari

Step1
Go to the Safari menu and choose 'Report Bugs to Apple.' This will bring up the report dialog box.
Step2
Type in the Web address of the problem page if it is different from the current page that automatically appears in the box.
Step3
Write a brief description of the problem in the dialog box provided. Try to describe what you were doing when the problem arose.
Step4
Click on the 'More Options' button.
Step5
Choose a category for the problem type from the list provided.
Step6
Click on the appropriate box if you want to also send a screen shot of the current page, or if you want to send the source of the current page.
Step7
Click 'Submit' when your report is ready to be sent.
Step8
Repeat these steps every time you want to report a bug to Apple.

Tips & Warnings

  • If your computer does not have Safari already, you can download the updated version directly from Apple's Web site (see Resources below).
  • In order to run the latest version of Safari, you need to be using a computer with OS 10.4.2 (Tiger).
  • If you have purchased your Macintosh computer within the last 90 days, you are eligible to receive advanced technical support by calling 1-800-275-2273.
  • As an added security feature, Safari can be set to only accept cookies from Web sites that you navigate to yourself.
  • If you send problem reports frequently, you can add the 'Bug' button to your address bar by choosing 'Bug' from the View menu.
  • The steps in this guide were written specifically for Safari 2.0, and may not work for earlier versions.
  • Since Safari does not include any of your personal information in the report, like an email address, you will not receive a personal reply to your report.
