How to Listen to Music With SeaMonkey

Although Mozilla's SeaMonkey application suite doesn't include built in audio features, Mozilla makes all major media players available via plugins that users can download and install. In addition, there are also music-specific add-ons available that make it possible to play and listen to music from your Web browser.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Download and Install SeaMonkey Before Adding Music Plugins

  1. Step 1

    Begin the download and installation process at the SeaMonkey home page (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Click on the 'Download Now' link that is connected to the operating system you use.

  3. Step 3

    Read the licensing agreement and click on the 'I Accept' button to continue.

  4. Step 4

    Choose between complete, custom and browser only versions of SeaMonkey to download.

  5. Get SeaMonkey Plugins to Listen to Music

  6. Step 1

    Choose from plugins available from the Mozilla Suite Add-Ons home page (see Resources below).

  7. Step 2

    Choose an audio player such as Quicktime with iTunes, Real Player or Windows Media Player.

  8. Step 3

    Click on the link that corresponds to the version you want and the operating system you use.

  9. Step 4

    Save the program when prompted by the dialog box.

  10. Step 5

    Click on the 'Save' button when the program prompts you to save it to a file.

  11. Step 6

    Open music files and listen to them from Web sites using your new plugins.

  12. Use SeaMonkey Add-Ons to Listen to Music

  13. Step 1

    Browse through music related add-ons at the Mozilla Suite Add-Ons home page.

  14. Step 2

    Choose an add-on like FoxyTunes that allows you to listen to music from your browser.

  15. Step 3

    Be sure that the program you want to install works with the version of SeaMonkey you have.

  16. Step 4

    Click on the 'Install Now' link.

  17. Step 5

    Click the 'Install' button when prompted by the Software Installation window.

  18. Step 6

    Choose where you would like your installation saved to.

  19. Step 7

    Restart the SeaMonkey browser to finish installing and use the program to listen to music on SeaMonkey.

  20. Step 8

    Play and control music right from the status toolbar on your browser.

Tips & Warnings
  • SeaMonkey requires users have Linux, Mac OS X 10.2 or higher or Windows 95-XP operating systems. 64 MB RAM and 100 MB free hard disk space minimum is also necessary.
  • The Mozilla Suite Add On page provides descriptions of all of its plugins and add-ons so you can make the best decision regarding your music player needs.
  • Instructions for listening to music were written using version 1.1.1 of SeaMonkey. Changes may occur with future versions.
