How to Download and Install SeaMonkey Themes

One of the things that makes SeaMonkey different from other application suites is the ability to customize the look and design of your Web browser. With SeaMonkey, you can add plug-ins, customize the toolbar, add icon packages and download and install a wide variety of 'skins' or themes to change the overall appearance of your Web navigator.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Download and Install the Mozilla SeaMonkey Application Suite

  1. Step 1

    Go to the SeaMonkey home page to start the installation process (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Check the system requirements to make sure that SeaMonkey is compatible with your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Choose and click on the link for the operating system you have in the 'Download Now' box. SeaMonkey is available for Windows, Linux GTK2 and Mac OS X.

  4. Step 4

    Select the Browser Only, Complete or Custom option to decide how many SeaMonkey applications you want to add to your computer.

  5. Find Themes to Add to Your SeaMonkey Suite

  6. Step 1

    Click on the View option on the SeaMonkey toolbar to produce a drop down menu. Choose the Apply Theme selection and click on Get New Themes to access themes.

  7. Step 2

    Go to Mozilla's official suite add-ons page (see Resources below). Mozilla offers an assortment of themes on their Web site available for download.

  8. Step 3

    Search for alternative sources to find other themes. There are many user resources available for people interested in adding themes.

  9. Step 4

    Choose from themes that include Internet Explorer and Star Trek.

  10. Download a Theme for Your SeaMonkey Application

  11. Step 1

    Select a theme that you want to add from the Mozilla Suite Add-on choices.

  12. Step 2

    Make sure that the theme you have selected works with SeaMonkey.

  13. Step 3

    Click on the 'Install Now' button to start downloading the theme.

  14. Step 4

    Choose the 'Install' button when the warning pop up box appears.

  15. Step 5

    Click 'OK' to finish the installation process.

  16. Step 6

    Activate your new theme by clicking on the View option on your toolbar and choosing Apply Theme from the drop down menu.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) link on the Mozilla Add-ons home page to find out more about adding themes.
  • Linux, Windows 95-XP and Mac OS X 10.2+ users can download SeaMonkey with a minimum of 64 MB RAM and 100 MB free disk space.
  • Choosing to download themes and 'skins' from users who have developed them leaves you open to contaminated files and programs.
  • Directions for installing themes are based on version 1.1.1. Newer editions may have varied instructions.
