How to Change Font Size on SeaMonkey

When reading printed text, you don't have the luxury of determining the font type and size you like best. With the Mozilla SeaMonkey application suite, however, customizing your font size and type style is easy.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Become a Mozilla SeaMonkey User

  1. Step 1

    Download and install SeaMonkey from the Mozilla SeaMonkey home page (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Click on the 'Download Now' link connected to the operating system you use on your computer.

  3. Step 3

    Read the licensing agreement and click the 'Accept' button to continue the installation.

  4. Step 4

    Choose to install either the SeaMonkey browser, a custom package of application features, or to download the complete application suite from Mozilla.

  5. Change Font Preferences on SeaMonkey

  6. Step 1

    Go to the Edit option on the toolbar and choose Preferences from the drop-down menu.

  7. Step 2

    Click on the Appearance feature at the top of the sidebar labeled Category.

  8. Step 3

    Choose the Fonts option from the list that appears.

  9. Step 4

    Select a language group. The default setting is Western which covers English and all West European languages.

  10. Step 5

    Determine if you want a font with serifs or without serifs from the drop-down menu.

  11. Step 6

    Choose a font size from the drop-down menu by clicking the number that corresponds to the pixel size you prefer. A check mark will appear next to your choice.

  12. Step 7

    Choose a default font from category choices that include serif, sans-serif, cursive, fantasy and monospace.

  13. Step 8

    Determine a minimum font size. Many Web pages are designed with different size fonts. You can control this by specifying a default minimum font size.

  14. Step 9

    Designate whether documents can use other fonts by clicking on the check box labeled 'Allow documents to use other fonts.'

  15. Step 10

    Click the 'OK' button to save your changes.

  • SeaMonkey includes privacy features that allow users to open their programs with a password to ensure that documents and important information are safe from other computer users.
  • The Customizing SeaMonkey section of the SeaMonkey Help Menu contains specific information regarding changing fonts.
  • The Mozilla SeaMonkey application suite is available to Linux users and Windows 95-XP users who have 64 MB RAM and at least 100 MB of free hard disk space as well as for users of MAC OS X 10.2 and higher.
  • Instructions for changing fonts were written using version 1.1.1 of SeaMonkey. Instructions may change for subsequent versions.
