How to Manage Cookies With Camino

The free Camino Web browser for Mac computers allows users to freely manage cookies. Cookies are pieces of information stored on your computer that help you quickly access Web sites. Camino users may elect to disallow cookies entirely, choose to allow them on a case-by-case basis or set their own parameters.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Mac computer with Internet access
  • Camino Web browser

Configure Camino's Cookies Settings

Step1
Sign onto the Internet using the Camino Web browser.
Step2
Select "Preferences" from the Camino toolbar at the top of the page.
Step3
Click on the "Privacy" tab to access the cookies settings.
Step4
Click on the button next to "Accept cookies from any site" for the most seamless access to Web sites.
Step5
Choose the 'Accept Cookies Only from Sites You Visit' button if you wish to block cookies from third party Web sites such as advertisements.
Step6
Pick the 'Don't accept cookies from any site' button for the highest security. Keep in mind that you will be unable to view some Web pages if you block all cookies.
Step7
Require Camino to ask your permission to allow cookies on a case-by-case basis by clicking on the 'Ask before accepting each cookie' button.

Tune Your General Cookies Preferences

Step1
Access the cookies settings Camino page as described above.
Step2
Click on the ‘Show cookies" button. This will show you all of the cookies you have allowed to be stored on your computer.
Step3
Delete any cookies listed that you no longer wish to allow.
Step4
Go back to the cookies settings page.
Step5
Select the "Edit exceptions list" button. This will show you the list of sites you have chosen to always ban and those you choose to always allow.
Step6
Manage your exceptions list by either removing Web sites from a list or adding them to a list. These are exceptions to the general preferences you set earlier.

Delete Saved Cookies

Step1
Access the Camino menu.
Step2
Choose the 'Empty cache' button. This will remove all of the saved information from recently viewed Web pages.

Tips & Warnings

  • Camino runs on Mac OS X operating systems. You will need 50 MB available hard drive space and 128 MB available RAM for Camino to function.

  • Take advantage of Camino's Annoyance Blocking security feature. It will disable all plugins and flash animations.
  • These steps were made for the Camino version 1.0.4. so they may not completely apply to other versions of Camino.
