The Internet provides many chiropractic reference materials, including videotapes, DVDs, CDs and books. You'll also find a host of brochures on pediatric, prenatal, postpartum and geriatric chiropractic care. Chiropractic treatments use back and neck manipulations to realign the spinal column. Relieving nerve pressure from misalignments is thought to boost the body's ability to heal, and it is said to relieve headaches, lower back pain and even anxiety.

    Find Chiropractic Resource Materials

  1. Step 1

Visit the Web site for the International Chiropractic Association for brochures, DVDs, CDs and more (see Resources below). All information is geared toward providing up-to-date, relevant facts about chiropractic care.

  2. Step 2

Explore the Palmer Chiropractic College Web site (see Resources below). You'll find informational materials geared toward both consumers and practitioners (new and veterans), as well as free electronic journals in the more common chiropractic subspecialties.

  3. Step 3

Visit chiropractors in your area. Most chiropractic offices put out brochures for their prospective and current patients. These brochures run the gamut of conditions dealt with by that office. Visiting several offices in your area will give you a good idea about the types of treatments immediately available.

Tips & Warnings
  • Chiropractic reference materials are often available for free. Others are priced inexpensively.
  • Many online reference materials are third-party Web sites linked to chiropractors' Web sites. Therefore, their information may be biased.
  • Any pain which gets worse after an adjustment and/or any new pain, like severe headaches, should be brought to your medical doctor's attention.
  • Visit an ER if you have intense chest pain and/or tingling in your extremities.
  • Before you start any alternative medical technique, be aware that many have not been scientifically evaluated. Often, only limited information is available about their safety and effectiveness. Each state and discipline has its own rules about how alternative medicine practitioners are licensed. If you decide to visit one, choose one licensed by a recognized national organization. Consult your primary health care provider and keep your doctor informed about the alternative medical technique you undertake.
