Things You'll Need:
- Multi-vitamin
- Computer with Internet access
- Food ingredients necessary to follow the diet
-
Step 1
Pick a 7-day period when you will not be under a lot of stress. Avoid times when you'll be expected to dine out often or attend many parties, like during the holidays.
-
Step 2
Choose a multi-vitamin to take during the cleanse, preferably one made from all-natural ingredients.
-
Step 3
Take the time to research the many variations of the cabbage soup recipe online at the "Cabbage Soup Diet" Web page (see Resources below). Choose the recipe that sounds the most delicious to you. After all, you'll be eating a lot of it.
-
Step 4
Choose organic ingredients. They may cost slightly more; but most of the ingredients for cabbage soup recipes are very inexpensive to start with.
-
Step 1
Make plenty of cabbage soup in advance, following whatever recipes you've chosen. Most of the recipes ask you to cook the soup for a long period. Give yourself plenty of time.
-
Step 2
Follow the daily guidelines of the diet strictly. Pay special attention to restrictions placed on starchy foods like bananas and potatoes.
-
Step 3
Eat as much cabbage soup as you want. This will help you to avoid feeling hungry during the cleanse.
-
Step 4
Learn as much as you can before you start this cleanse. Find books about cabbage cleanses at Amazon.com (see Resources below).

on 8/7/2008 WOW, I'm glad I saw your comment Flynn. I am on day 4 myself of the Cabbage soup diet. I thought i was having a heart attack yesterday because of the incredible pain in the middle of my chest that kept coming on as contractions IT WAS AWFUL!!! I was considering going to the drs. but after a couple hours and myself relaxing after work, the pain went away. I have eaten 2 bananas today so far this morning, lunch is in an hour I hope the pain doesn't come back once I start the soup again.
Have a great day!

on 7/29/2008 I tried a cabbage soup 7 day diet a while back. After about the 4 day, I gave up. I week or so later I began experiencing severe pain in the center of my chest (like someone was stabbing me). I went to my doctor who ran a complete blood workup and sent me to have a special scan taken (I had to drink this chalky medicine and then the injected me with iodine and did a scan). I also had a chest x-ray. All of the test were normal and the doctor gave me a perscription for an acid reflux medication (which didn't seem to help the pain). After about 2 weeks, the pain went away and I have been fine since. I was wondering if anybody who has tried this diet experience similar side effects or if my pain had nothing to do with the diet and was just a coincidence.
