Now that you've found others who share your same interests and exchanged information with them in Yahoo Groups, you may want to share this info outside of the group. You can do so by exporting your files to a report or presentation. Any data collected in Yahoo Groups can be prepared to export. Follow these steps to find out how to export Yahoo Groups.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Membership in a Yahoo Group

    Export Yahoo Groups

  1. Step 1

Begin the process at the Yahoo home page (see Resources below). Sign in with your Yahoo ID and password.

  2. Step 2

Click on the link for the Yahoo Group in question.

  3. Step 3

Click on the "Database" link. Go to the database tables and determine what you want to export.

  4. Step 4

Take your cursor and hold down on your left mouse button to highlight the areas of information you'd like to export. If they're not contiguous areas, hold down the "Control" button on your keyboard while highlighting to highlight multiple areas at 1 pass.

  5. Step 5

Make sure you have the destination document open on your desktop.

  6. Step 6

Click on the "Export" button. The information will be exported to the document or file where you direct it. Name and save the new document so that you can retrieve it again at a later time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure you have the program capabilities to open the document you want to export from. If it's an Excel file that has the information to be exported and you don't have Excel on your computer, you may have a problem. You can still cut and paste the information, but it won't format correctly. All formulas will be lost.
  • If you need help while trying to export information from a group file, go to the "Groups Help" Web page in Yahoo Groups (see Resources below).
  • Nothing you do as a Yahoo member is anonymous. When you registered for a Yahoo account, you agreed to let Yahoo use your personal information for promotional purposes. Yahoo and its marketing partners may send you solicitations for products or services similar to those you'd voluntarily search for. They will not, however, sell or otherwise give your information to outside vendors.
  • Remember that Yahoo doesn't take responsibility for your security if you leave the Yahoo-hosted Web sites and venture to third-party Web sites. These will be identified as such when you click on those links.
