How to Create a Yahoo Auctions Account

Yahoo Auctions is Yahoo's complete online shopping experience. Yahoo members can buy, sell and view items in a wide range of categories in a user-friendly format. Best of all, Yahoo Auctions is a free service. Creating an account takes less than 15 minutes.

Create a Yahoo Account

1. Visit the Yahoo home page by pasting the Yahoo web address into your Internet browser (see Resources below).

2. Find the log-in area and click on the 'Sign Up' link. You will be taken to a brief registration form to create your Yahoo account. You will create your Yahoo ID, answer a security question, verify your registration and accept the Yahoo Terms of Service.

3. Complete the form and click the 'I Agree' button to continue.

4. Confirm your registration by responding to the email you will receive from Yahoo.

5. Go back to the Yahoo home page.

Create a Yahoo Auctions Account

6. Click on the button that reads 'More Yahoo Services' on the Yahoo home page after logging in to your Yahoo account using your username and password. A window will pop up listing all of Yahoo's services.

7. Click on the 'Auctions' link in the list of services. This will take you to the Yahoo Auctions home page.

8. Click on the 'Sign Up' link in the 'Getting Started' box.

9. Read and accept the Yahoo Auctions Terms of Service that will appear on the subsequent page. You may want to read the Yahoo Auctions Guidelines before you proceed (see Resources below). Click the 'Back' button on your browser to return to the Terms of Service page, and then click 'I Accept.'

10. Click the 'Continue Where You Left Off' button to return to the Yahoo Auctions site. You are now registered and you may go directly to the Yahoo Auctions home page at any time to use your account.

Tips & Warnings

• For your safety, read buyer and seller ratings and feedback before and during an auction to help ensure the individual you're dealing with is trustworthy.
• Print a copy of the Yahoo Terms of Service before you register.
• You will need a credit card to participate in auctions (i.e., bid or sell), but you do not need one to create your account.
