How to Check Stock Quotes With Yahoo Finance

One of Yahoo's most popular services, Yahoo Finance is free and user friendly. You can view stock options and quotes, finance articles and build personalized portfolios to keep track of your own finances. There are several ways to check quotes with Yahoo Finance. View the following steps to see the easiest way to use Yahoo Finance to check any quote you need, anytime:

    Create a Yahoo Account

  1. Step 1

    Register for a Yahoo account to experience the best of Yahoo Finance's services personalized to your needs. Many of Yahoo's services are only available to Yahoo members. The good news is that it's fast and free to set up your own Yahoo account.

  2. Step 2

    Go to Yahoo's home page and click 'Sign Up' to register for your own Yahoo account (see Resources below). Fill out the registration form with your name and other requested information, then choose an appropriate username. Type in a password that you can easily remember.

  3. Step 3

    Read the terms of service, then click 'I Agree,' as well as answering any other requested information to complete the Yahoo registration process. Now you are ready to move on to checking quotes using Yahoo Finance.

    Visit the Yahoo Finance Web site (see Resources below).

  6. Step 2

    Enter the symbol for the stock you are looking for in the field provided at the top of the Yahoo Finance home page, then click the 'Quotes' button. Use the 'Look Up Symbol' tool next to the 'Quotes' button if you don't know the symbol of the stock for which you're looking.

  7. Step 3

    View the Quotes page for your desired stock. Prices are automatically updated as they change so you don't have to refresh the page to see the most recent numbers. Repeat these simple steps for any further stocks you want to check.

    Explore the other information available for your stock on the quotes page by clicking the links, such as historical prices. Yahoo Finance is a one-stop shop for tracking all of your finance interests, holdings and market changes.
