How to Create a Music Profile on Yahoo Music

Creating a music profile allows you to share your music tastes with other Yahoo members. You can choose settings that allow visitors to view your profile, listen to your own customized Yahoo radio station and chat with you about music and artists.

Create a Yahoo Account

1. Visit Yahoo's home page to create a Yahoo account, which is required to experience Yahoo Music features like creating your Music Profile (see Resources below).

2. Click on the "Sign Up" link on the Yahoo home page. You will arrive at a page requesting information needed to register your account.

3. Fill out the form with your name and other verifying information. Carefully choose a username that will appear to email and chat recipients, and type in a password that will be easy for you to remember.

4. Agree to the terms of service and answer any further questions to complete the registration process for your own Yahoo account.

Install Yahoo Music Jukebox

5. Visit the Yahoo Music page (see Resources below). You will need to install the Yahoo Music Jukebox before you can create a music profile.

6. Select 'Free Player' under the 'Downloads' tab to arrive at the Yahoo Music Jukebox launch page, then click on the button that says 'Install Free.'

7. Follow the Yahoo directions carefully as you are guided through the installation process. Read the license agreement and select 'I agree,' then click the 'Next' button to initiate the installation. Click 'Finish' to complete the installation process.

8. Open your Yahoo Music Jukebox by clicking on its icon on your desktop. Select the "Y! Unlimited" link once Jukebox has loaded.

9. Click on "View My Music Profile." You may be asked to log in to your Yahoo account. Enter your username and password to continue.

10. Click "Edit" in the "About My Music" section to write a description of your music tastes. List some favorite musicians and genres to help summarize your music likes and dislikes.

11. Click "Edit" in the "My Music Tastes" section to rate albums, artists, songs and genres to further show your music preferences.

12. Rate music to get recommendations and to better display your personal music tastes. Explore the options available to you at Yahoo Music and enjoy reading other profiles to discover Yahoo members with similar music preferences.

13. Click on the 'Help' link in the Yahoo Music home page for further support with creating a profile with Yahoo Music (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings

• Choose your password carefully and never give it to anyone outside of Yahoo's secure server. The password should be unique from other passwords you use online to protect yourself from hackers.
