Thanks to download services like those offered by Yahoo Music, it's now possible to purchase the songs you want without having to buy entire albums. It's easy to browse for songs and artists, choose what you want to hear, and purchase the right songs for your collection. You can even sample songs before you purchase them, making each song in your library exactly what you want.

    Purchase Songs From Yahoo

  1. Step 1

Go to the Yahoo Music Web site and log in to your Yahoo account using your log-in information (see Resources below). Create an account by selecting the 'Sign Up' link if you haven't done so already.

  2. Step 2

Search for songs and artists by entering their name or the name of their song in the search bar and click 'Search.'

  3. Step 3

Select the track you want from the list of results that appears. There could be several pages of results depending on the search you chose to perform, so just click the 'Next' or 'Previous' buttons or the specific page number to move forward and back.

  4. Step 4

Preview the songs you're interested in hearing by clicking on your selection. This will open the Yahoo Music Jukebox. If you haven't already installed Yahoo Music Jukebox, you'll be prompted to do so now.

  5. Step 5

Click the 'Buy Now' link at any time while listening to your song choice.

  6. Step 6

Verify your Yahoo Music Unlimited information at this time, or you may simply elect to pay for the download independently of your Unlimited account. It costs about 20 cents more, but you are not required to pay a subscription fee.

  7. Step 7

Select whether you want your downloads to be burnable or not by checking the 'Burnable' box as you make your selection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Choose a subscription service to protect your purchase. If you have a hard drive failure or similar problem, you'll be able to re-download your songs free of charge.
  • Listen to Yahoo's LAUNCHcast Radio to hear songs that you might like to purchase later. Every song's information is displayed prominently in the radio itself, as well as links to buy.
  • If you're not able to hear the songs you've purchased or are having trouble downloading, then get troubleshooting help from Yahoo Answers (see Resources below).
  • Be sure not to delete your purchased downloads before you've had a chance to burn or copy them. You'll lose your download and be forced to purchase those songs all over again.
  • Don't give your account password to other people, especially when your credit card is linked to it.
