Yahoo Music offers an incredible number of tracks and artists to choose from, making it one of the best places to get the tunes you want. You'll need an account to get started, but once you have one, you'll have access to downloads, videos and Yahoo Music Jukebox, a music and media player. You can have an account active and ready to stream music in only a few minutes.

Set up Your Yahoo and Yahoo Music Accounts

  1. Step 1

Head to the Yahoo home page (see Resources below) and log in using your Yahoo account information. You can also create an account at this time using the 'Sign Up' link.

  2. Step 2

Click the 'Music' link to go to the Yahoo Music section of the Web site.

  3. Step 3

Create a Yahoo Music Unlimited account by clicking the 'Yahoo Music Unlimited' link. This will take you to the initial sign-up page.

  4. Step 4

Choose the payment options you'd like to incorporate for your Yahoo Music account before you create it. There are four different choices, each of which has different benefits to users.

  5. Step 5

Choose the standard Yahoo Music Unlimited account for basic music and album downloads.

  6. Step 6

Select one of the two 'Yahoo Music Unlimited To Go' options to create an account that permits you to use your portable MP3 player to play music while you're away from the computer.

  7. Step 7

Stick with the free Yahoo Music service to pay for songs as you go instead of paying for a monthly or yearly subscription.

Tips & Warnings
  • Yahoo accounts give you instant access across multiple Yahoo services. So if, for example, you already have a Yahoo Mail email address, you're already one step closer to listening to the music you want to hear.
  • If your Yahoo account isn't working properly or you're having trouble accessing music, visit the Yahoo Music Help page for answers (see Resources below).
  • Be careful about deleting songs you've downloaded from Yahoo Music. Burnable downloads are one-time offers, so if you delete it before you've burned it to a disc, you're going to lose the track with no chance to re-download it without paying for it a second time.
  • Apple's iPod is not currently supported by Yahoo Music. Most other portable MP3 players are, however.
  • Protect your music and your account by using a password that is random and difficult for hackers to decipher (random letters and numbers works best).
