How to Use Yahoo Avatars
Using Yahoo Messenger doesn't have to be plain and boring: you can customize your Messenger profile to include avatars. Avatars are images that are displayed in or near your name or within a chat window. Avatars can be as simple as a smiley face, or as complex as a virtual representation of yourself. Either way, an avatar will give your profile a little character.

Choose the gender for your avatar, either male or female, by clicking on the appropriate button, and then click the 'Create My Avatar' link.

Select the elements for your avatar by clicking on the category tabs and changing your avatar's appearance. Choose between different types of clothing, accessories and even pets.

Tips & Warnings
Check for updates of Yahoo Messenger periodically. Sometimes those updates include upgrades for the way avatars behave; i.e., the emotions they can display or the sounds they emit.
Ask other Yahoo members about their avatars and how to create them at Yahoo Answers (see Resources below).
Try not to have too many other programs running while using instant messenger services or most online applications. They require a lot of memory and resources.
Never type credit card information or sensitive company data into an instant messaging window.
