How to Send Attachments on Yahoo

Yahoo Mail is a comprehensive tool for corresponding in today's technological world. Among the tools necessary for sending and receiving useful emails is the ability to include attachments on outgoing emails. It is easy to attach files to outgoing emails with Yahoo Mail.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access

    Sign in to Yahoo Mail

  1. Step 1

    Visit Yahoo Mail's home page and click on the 'Sign In' link to log in to Yahoo Mail (see Resources below). If you don't have an account, follow the instructions below to create one.

  2. Step 2

    Click the 'Sign Up' link on the Yahoo home page to begin creating your own Yahoo Mail account.

  3. Step 3

    Enter your name and other required information in the fields provided. Select your Yahoo ID and password carefully. Your ID is what will identify you to the people to whom you send email. Your password needs to be at least 6 characters long and should be unique from other passwords you use on the Web.

  4. Step 4

    Select a question from the menu that you will be sure to remember the answer to if you are asked again later. Yahoo will ask you this question if you should forget your password in the future, to verify that you are the correct user. Type in your answer to the question in the field below.

  5. Step 5

    Type your birth date, zip code and any other requested information into the fields provided.

  6. Step 6

    Verify your registration by typing the characters you see shown in the last section of the registration page into the field provided. Read the Terms of Service thoroughly and print a copy for your records. Select 'I Agree'. You have successfully set up your Yahoo Mail account.

  7. Create Your Outgoing Email

    Click on the 'Compose' button in your mail folder to send your email with attachments.

  9. Step 2

    Type your message, include a subject and click on the 'Attach files' button under the subject field. A new page will open where you can attach your files.

  10. Include Attachments in Your Email

    Click on the first 'Browse' button. Find the file you wish to attach to your email.

  12. Step 2

    Click on the file you want to attach and it will appear in the file field.

  13. Step 3

    Repeat this step with additional attachments until you are finished and then select the 'Attach Files' button. You will receive a message that you have successfully attached your files.

  14. Step 4

    Click on the 'Continue To Message' button.

  15. Step 5

    Check that everything is included in your email and click on the 'Send' button. The recipient should receive your email with the attachments almost immediately after you send it.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try using WinZip to compress files that exceed Yahoo's 10 megabyte size limit for attachments. If possible, you can split the file into smaller files and transmit them separately.
