Step 1
Start the Internet browser in which the Yahoo Toolbar has been installed. You can disable the Yahoo Toolbar from any Web page.

Click on the 'Tools' or 'Options' menu tab from the menu bar. This will be different for each Internet browser, but will link you to a collection of options related to the customization of your browser.

Select and click the 'Add-ons' section. This will display a list of all the current extra features you have running within your Internet browser.

Click on the 'Yahoo Toolbar' selection from the list of add-ons. You may need to double-click depending on the way your browser operates.

Click the 'Disable' button in the context menu that opens for the Yahoo Toolbar.

Press 'Apply' to make your changes active and disable the toolbar. It may also be necessary to click 'OK' once you've clicked 'Apply.' As long as you get redirected to the original 'Options' menu your changes have been made active.

Step 7
Use the 'Uninstall' button as an alternative to disabling the Yahoo Toolbar. Simply click the 'Pencil' icon in the Toolbar, and select the 'Uninstall' icon. This will completely remove the toolbar from your Internet browser as well as your computer. You'll need to reinstall it to re-enable it in the future.

on 1/15/2009 After trying all previous instructions, this is the one that works. The rest don't tell you that in Firefox you must go to Tools, then Add-ons to completely remove the toolbar. Thank you! It was a pesty little devil to find.
