Chatting online has become a favorite American pastime. In fact, it has also taken hold throughout the world. In China, the most popular online service is SINA. Thanks to SINA, you can chat online and share your thoughts about a news event or sporting event in real time. You can chat using SINA and an embedded service called Gabbly in China. This service gives you the opportunity to share your opinions, ideas and comments about the content of your favorite Web pages. Visit the Gabbly homepage to create a chat bar in yours (or any) Web site (see Resources below). Click on the 'Embed' tab.

  4. Step 4

Fill in your desired width and height for the chat window and your Web page URL. The code will be generated in the box below. Place it into your page's html, and the Gabbly Chat window will appear on your site. Everyone who visits your page will then be able to chat with one another!

  5. Step 5

List your chat room in the forum topic 'Places to Chat' so that more people will know about this opportunity.

  6. Step 6

Tips & Warnings
  • Neither Gabbly nor SINA will see anything that you type outside of the Gabbly chat windows. Still, be aware that the chat window is public. If you receive any spam or harassing messages, you can 'mute' them by clicking on their name in the 'gabbers list' in the chat window. That individual can still send messages to the other viewers/gabbers in that chat window, but you will not receive them. You can unmute them by clicking on their name in the gabbers list again.
