Instructions

Get yourself ready. You need to make sure you are dressed for the part. Shoes and clothing are important parts to walking silently. Your shoes need to be soft soled and your clothes need to be a good fit. The softer the sole of your shoe, the quieter you will walk.

    • 2

Breathe. Your breathing might be the biggest give away when you are walking. Practice breathing in and out of your nose. This is a lot quieter than mouth breathing.

    • 3

Know your surroundings. If you are walking in the forest, get ready to watch out for branches and leaves. If you are walking in the snow, the crunching of snow will make your walk louder.

    • 4

Walk heel/toe, heel/toe. Try not to just plop your foot down when you are walking. If your heels hit first they will be quieter steps.

    • 5

Walk the same way as the person you are following. If you can match the steps of the person in front of you, they are less likely to hear you behind them.

    • 6

Practice. Practice makes perfect, so the more time you put into walking silently, the better you will be at it. Also practice with a friend or two by following them, and they can tell you if they can hear you from behind

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep your eyes open for what is about to come up in your path. If you know what is coming up, you will be a better silent walker.

  • Keep your shoes dry, as you don't want them to squeak on certain surfaces.
