How many times do you remember sitting in math class and watching the girl next to you twirl her pencil around her middle finger? Well, it is really not as hard as you might think. Here is how to spin a pencil around your middle finger.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pencil
  1. Step 1

Get a proper pencil. A new unsharpened pencil is your best bet. It is longer and will provide better balance for spinning.

  2. Step 2

Hold the pencil between your middle finger and your thumb. Put your other fingers back and out of the way and keep your hand still during the whole spin.

  3. Step 3

Push the pencil forward with your middle finger. This will make the pencil spin. Although it seems simple, it is tricky to master.

  4. Step 4

Keep trying. You probably won't get it on the first try. You have plenty of time to practice. You can do it on the bus, at the doctor's office, watching TV. The more you practice, the better you will become. Be ready to chase down runaway pencils.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to do it really fast, here is how to make a super fast spin. Start the same way as you do with the regular spin, except that the pencil’s between your middle finger and ring finger (The thumb is used to stabilize the end of the pencil). Push forward and backwards at the same time. Move your thumb; you should get a very cool spin with your pencil.
  • Fight the urge to move your hand to make the pencil go faster. If you don't move it, you will be better off in the long run.
