AbiWord is a free word processing program available online. In addition to the standard features of a word processing program, you can create lists in AbiWord that are numbered, accented with bullet points or arranged in a table.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • AbiWord
  • Computer

Step1
Open the AbiWord program. Click the "Save" icon to create a file for your new document.
Step2
Decide whether you want to use numbers or bullets to make your list. Numbers are better for lists in which the order is important, while bullets are good for drawing attention to each item in the list.
Step3
Type the first entry of your list. Now click on either the "Numbers" icon or the "Bullets" icon. The selected graphic element will appear in front of the list item, and the list entry will be indented toward the center of the page.
Step4
Hit "Enter." A new number or bullet point will appear, perfectly in line with the previous entry. Type in a new list item. Repeat this step as often as needed.
Step5
Tap the "Enter" key twice when you have entered the last list item. Optionally, you can hit the "Enter" key once, and then click the "Numbers" or "Bullets" icon again to disable the list feature.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pull down the "Format" tab and click on "Bullets" and "Numbering." This opens the "List" window where you can make adjustments to the indenting, spacing and format of your lists.
  • You can also create a table to make an unnumbered, non-bullet pointed list in AbiWord. Click the table icon, select the number of columns you need and then adjust the number of rows to hold all of the entries on your list. Enter each list item in a new row.
  • Don’t forget to hit the "Apply" button in the "Lists" window when you are finished making adjustments to the formatting of a list, otherwise your changes will be lost.
