Music of your podcast should fit the theme of your podcast, because your background audio is instrumental in creating the right ambiance for your listener. Here's some things to think about when you are either creating or choosing music.
Think about what topics will be covered in the podcast. What style would be fitting? What kind of mood should the music set?
Step2
Next up, think about when will the music be played in the podcast. Find out how long the music needs to be and whether it's an intro or outro, background music or music for interstitials.
Step3
Experiment and test it out with the voiceover audio to see how it sounds. Make sure the timing is correct. Create varations of the themes to see what works best.
Step4
When you and your collaborators have agreed on the right sound, stick with one or two variations to keep it simple.
Tips & Warnings
Keep the sounds simple and clean. Too many effects can be overwhelming.
It might be a good idea to create submixes out of your tracks and make it into a background loop that can be extended. This would be helpful for general instances when music is needed for the background but there is no particular time limit or restraint.
Keep the length of music short. Musical interludes that go on for more than 30 seconds can disrupt the rhythm of the show and make you lose your listeners' attention.
