Planning a funeral for a loved one is one of the most difficult tasks we take on in our lives. We want the funeral to be memorable and reminiscent of the person we have lost, as well as comforting to family and friends who have been left behind. Here's how to get started.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make notes of things your lost loved one enjoyed, such as books, poetry, music and hobbies.

  2. Step 2

Find a funeral home that is conveniently located in your area and a funeral director whom you feel comfortable with.

  3. Step 3

Choose a couple of people to deliver eulogies at the funeral.

  4. Step 4

Choose a funeral service that is appropriate for your lost loved one.

  5. Step 5

Choose a casket, readings, music and burial location with the help of the funeral director.

Tips & Warnings
  • There are a lot of things to consider when planning a funeral. It is wise to have another family member with you to help make these difficult decisions.
  • Remember the loved one you are having the funeral for. Try to honor your loved one's memory by doing (or not doing) the things he or she would have wanted.
