Mourning is a very personal thing, and there is no right or wrong way to go about it. A sibling is a huge part of your life, and losing one can be devastating. No matter how close you were, your ages and personal situations, such a loss is never easy to deal with, even if you may have had time to prepare for the loss.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Allow your spouse, friends and family to offer their support. You may want to be alone with your grief right now, but you may never feel better if you hide away forever.

  2. Step 2

Find a way to memorialize your sibling. Popular choices are to plant a tree in memory, donate money or perform some other charitable act in their name.

  3. Step 3

Pray. Allow yourself the time to be with whatever higher power you believe in, and take strength from your faith.

  4. Step 4

Write a story, draw a picture or use whatever gifts you have to remember your sibling, whether it be wood carving or scrapbooking.

  5. Step 5

Be there for your sibling's family if they have one. They need you as much as you need them.

  6. Step 6

Live. It’s what your sibling would want you to do.
