The Sony PlayStation Portable isn’t just a gaming console—you can watch movies as well, using two different media formats. To watch movies with your PSP you can use your Memory Stick Duo with video files stored on it or purchase movies in a special format called Universal Media Disk (UMD).

From Quick Guide: Sony PSP Gaming
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Sony PSP
  • UMD format movies
  • Sony Memory Stick Duo
  1. Step 1

Select the “Movie” icon from the Home menu display.

  2. Step 2

Insert a Memory Stick Duo or UMD into the appropriate slot.

  3. Step 3

Select the icon for the media when it is displayed on the PSP screen.

  4. Step 4

If you inserted a Memory Stick and have several different files stored on it, press the left arrow button to select the one you want. Skip this step if your Memory Stick Duo has only one file stored on it or if you are using a UMD.

  5. Step 5

Press the “X” button to start playback.

Tips & Warnings
  • Your Sony PSP comes with one 32 megabyte Memory Stick Duo. UMDs are purchased separately, and you can buy extra Memory Sticks too.
  • With a USB cable or a Memory Stick adaptor, you can transfer files between your PC and Memory Stick Duo.
  • Videos on a Memory Stick Duo must be in MPEG-4 format, or they will not play on the PSP.
  • Don’t touch the connector on a Memory Stick Duo with any metal object or with your hand, and never remove the Memory Stick while the access indicator is lit—doing so can cause data loss or data corruption.
