How to Download Content for Your PSP

At the Official Sony PSP Web site, you can find lots of files--including music, movie trailers, images and game demos--that you can download to your PC to transfer to your PSP or download directly to your PSP itself. Here's how to take advantage of this part of your PSP's functionality.

Things You'll Need:

  • PC
  • Memory Stick Duo
  • Wireless network or USB cable
  • Sony PSP
  1. Step 1

    Connect to the Internet using the PSP Web browser.

  2. Step 2

    Go to the official PSP Web site and sign in using your email address and password. If you have not created an account, you’ll need to do so to start downloading content.

  3. Step 3

    Click the “Media & Downloads” tab on the navigation bar.

  4. Step 4

    Check the box labeled “PSP” to find content to download. Check one of the “Advanced Filter” boxes if you want to find specific type of download such as music or game demos.

  5. Step 5

    Click “Add to My Media” when you find a file you want to download.

  6. Step 6

    Choose a folder to save the file to on your Memory Stick.

  7. Step 7

    Choose the “Save” options then press “X” to save the file.

  8. Step 8

    Press the “Circle” button to return to the Web site when the download is finished.

Tips & Warnings
  • You must have a wireless Internet connection to download content directly to your Sony PSP.
  • If you don’t have a wireless network, you can download content to your PSP via your PC by connecting the two with a USB cable. You’ll need to download files to your PC first, and then transfer them to the PSP.
  • Each type of file must be saved in the right folder for the PSP to recognize and play it. Music files must be saved in the “Music” folder, movies and videos must be saved in the “Video” folder and images and photos must be saved in the “Picture” folder.
  • Music must be in MP3 or ATRAC3plus format to play on the PSP, and video files must be in MP4 format.
