Installing a wireless mouse for your desktop PC can save valuable desk space and reduce clutter and its attendant frustration. A wireless mouse gives you a little bit of extra room to work with and fewer tangles and distractions.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Driver disk
  • Batteries
  • Wireless mouse
  • Desktop PC

Step3
Insert the driver CD for your wireless mouse into your CD drive.
Step4
Follow the on-screen instructions to install the software that operates your mouse.
Step5
Connect the wireless receiver to the USB port on your laptop.

Test your new mouse by moving it around on your screen and clicking a few icons.

Tips & Warnings

  • Keep spare batteries on hand so that you’re not stuck without a mouse when they stop working.
  • Save money and space by purchasing a packaged set containing a wireless keyboard and mouse. These are less expensive than buying the two separately, and they usually operate on the same receiver.
  • Check the box of the wireless keyboard before you buy it to make sure your laptop meets all the stated requirements.
  • Some wireless peripherals don’t come with their own batteries, so you may need to buy them separately.
