If you want to get that naturally wavy, flipped or rippled look for your hair without the frizz, learn how to scrunch your hair. There are a couple ways to scrunch hair, but this method is the easiest and lets you use your favorite product.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hairspray
  • Mousse

Step1
Shampoo and condition your hair. Rinse it thoroughly.
Step2
Towel-dry your hair. Do this gently, without rubbing. Begin by squeezing the excess water out of your hair and then pat your hair until it is damp, but not dripping wet.
Step3
Spray hairspray or apply gel or mousse to the roots of your hair.
Step4
Grab a chunk of your hair and squeeze. Crinkle it by pushing it up toward your head. Repeat this process with all of your hair.
Step5
Keep grabbing, squeezing and pushing. Do this until your hair air-dries, or use a hair dryer.

Tips & Warnings

  • Grabbing smaller chunks will give you more curl and grabbing larger chunks will make more of a wave effect.
  • Using a curl-defining product can help scrunch fine or naturally straight hair.
  • Do not brush your hair after scrunching. It will give you a lot of frizz.
  • Using too much gel can cause it to look white and flaky when it dries.
