  • "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog." -Mark Twain

Step1
Be persistent and resilient - according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, competition for being a lawyer is high, thanks to the large number of students graduating from law school each year. But, first things first...you have to get into law school.
Step2
Get credit for law school by going overseas - any student can study abroad, but unfortunately only a limited amount of law students are allowed to study abroad and get credit for it each semester. See the warnings below.
Step3
Study Common Law Abroad - qualifications vary from state to state, but they all agree that whatever country you study law in, it has to be English Common Law. The other substantive requirement is the overseas institution has to be the equivalent of a legal education provided by an approved law school in the U.S. Here are job outlooks to consider...
Step4
Employment for attorney job growth as fast as average - with competition high, and only good marks getting you the pick of the litter, lawyers have to find work in non-traditional areas which legal training is an asset but not normally a requirement such as administration, management, business positions in banks, real estate companies, insurance firms, etc. Firms will be seeking lawyers holding specialty expertise like in patents or taxes.
Step5
Extinction of self employed lawyers - self employed lawyers will decrease slowly, and more salaried positions at corporations will increase. In other words, big business is looking to put attorneys on salary because its cheaper in the long run. As for the future of law firms, the large will win out, while the small ones will dry up.
Step6
Queue law school study abroad - Law school study abroad institutions are already addressing this need for vocation by developing overseas learning options and ultimately offering more in-demand specialty alternatives. So, definitely consider making studying law abroad a part of your arsenal.
