A tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, involves removing excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen so the stomach is tighter. Women who have given birth or lost a lot of weight are common candidates for tummy tucks.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Check to see if you have loose skin around your stomach or whether your abdomen is out of proportion with the rest of your body.

  2. Step 2

Decide whether or not you are interested in having (more) children. It's best to wait until you're done having children.

  3. Step 3

Discuss your medical history with a surgeon.

  4. Step 4

Know that you need to be emotionally and physically healthy before your surgery.

  5. Step 5

Set your expectations in a realistic way. Talk to others who've had the surgery and find out what their experiences were like.
