Ask your regular physician for referrals. Your doctor may have a colleague whose work he or she particularly admires. Your doctor may also know you well enough to suggest a surgeon who will fit your personality.
Step2
Search the Internet for cosmetic surgeons (see Resources below). Explore reputable Web sites only. Do not explore Web sites run by surgeons or companies that are trying to sell you products.
Step3
Use the Yellow Pages. You'll find listings for cosmetic surgeons and for hospitals that may be a source of referrals. Consider calling the Better Business Bureau in your area as well.
Step4
Talk to friends or family members who have had cosmetic surgery. If they are enthusiastic about their surgeons, add these doctors to your list of candidates.
Step5
Ask your insurance company if your policy covers breast reduction surgery. If so, your cosmetic surgeon options may be narrowed by insurance specifications.
Step6
Interview the cosmetic surgeons on your list. Ask to see pictures of surgeries they have performed. Take notes so you can compare information when making your choice.
Tips & Warnings
Choose board-certified cosmetic surgeons only. These physicians have received special training in their field.
If you are dissatisfied with anything about a particular surgeon, keep looking.
