Things You'll Need:
- USB cable
- Computers
-
Step 1
Install a special software application for transferring records. The application, which is used to transfer folders, files, e-mail messages, music and photos is usually included in your cable. If you don't have an installer, you can download the application on the Microsoft Web page.
-
Step 2
Transfer files over a USB cable. The USB cable creates a direct connection between the two computers. Choosing the cable that is the most compatible with your PC allows for faster data transmission.
-
Step 3
Plug the USB cable into both computers. The two computers will now have a direct link that will let you transfer records from your old computer to your Windows Vista PC.
-
Step 4
Follow the instructions. The software application that you have installed should provide easy-to-follow instructions for transferring files.
-
Step 5
Start transferring your files. No matter how large the file, you can easily transmit it to your Windows Vista system. The USB cable should let you transmit data at about 20 gigabytes per hour.
