Wiffle ball is an enjoyable sport played by people of all ages. If you want to get an edge on the competition, you could work on improving your pitching. Follow the instructions below to effectively curve a Wiffle ball.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Wiffle ball
  1. Step 1

Create a practice area. Simulate a strike zone by placing an object such as a chair at a batter's distance away from your pitching area. Or draw a box the size of a strike zone on a wall.

  2. Step 2

Scuff up your Wiffle ball to roughen the surface. Rub it against a scratchy surface such as the ground.

  3. Step 3

Find the seam, that thin line along the circumferance of the ball. Place your middle finger on the top of the ball at the seam and place your thumb on the bottom of the ball at the seam. Now place your index finger about an inch from your middle finger.

  4. Step 4

The holes on your Wiffle ball should face your ring and pinky fingers. Use these fingers to cradle the ball in position. Grip the ball comfortably but not too tightly.

  5. Step 5

Practice throwing the curve ball until you get the hang of it. For best results, throw the ball overhand and make a downward motion with your wrist before you release the ball. Apply a moderate amount of force with your middle finger and thumb when throwing the Wiffle ball.

  6. Step 6

Make adjustments as you practice. Not everyone will throw a Wiffle ball curve the same way. You will need to adjust your grip and throwing speed to get the best Wiffle curve ball.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use sandpaper to roughen the surface of your Wiffle ball.
  • A Wiffle ball curve grip is similar to a baseball curve grip with a few minor adjustments.
  • Don’t get discouraged. It may take a while to get the hang of throwing a good Wiffle ball curve.
