How to Propose on a Vacation

A relaxing vacation is a great time to propose. Vacations take you away from the stress of everyday life and give you time to dream of the future. If you are interested in proposing while on vacation, follow these steps.

1. Decide where and when you would like to take the vacation. If your girlfriend has been requesting a vacation, enlist her help.
   
2. If you are planning the vacation on your own, check availability of flights and hotels. Check with your girlfriend to see if the date and time are convenient for her.
   
3. Once you have determined the best time and place, make reservations.
   
4. Purchase the ring.
   
5. Put the ring in a secure location where your girlfriend will not find it.
   
6. Decide how you will propose and what you will say. Write it down and practice your speech on a regular basis.
7. Pack for the vacation. Don't forget the ring!
   
8. Call the hotel where you will be staying and ask if there is anything special they can do for you. Often, hotels will bump you up to a nicer room, provide a dinner in their restaurant, or put champagne in your room.
   
   
9. Decide on the best time to propose. You may want to propose in the middle of the vacation so you can enjoy the rest of your time together as a newly engaged couple.
   
   
10. When you propose, you may forget what you planned to say. If so, you have nothing to worry about. Just say what is in your heart and she will understand.
