Step 1
Be certain that a plane is the right spot for a proposal. If you are not absolutely certain she will say yes, create a plan B. There's no escape route on a plane. You could be stuck together in a very awkward situation for quite some time if she does not accept your proposal.
-
Step 2
Before making any reservations, be sure your girlfriend is available and willing to take the trip with you.
-
Step 3
Book the reservations for the plane as well as hotel and ground transportation.
-
Step 4
Confirm plans with your girlfriend so that she can mark the trip in her calendar.
-
Step 5
Decide at which point you would like to propose. Generally, it is a good idea to propose in the middle of the trip. You will be able to enjoy the remainder of the flight as a newly engaged couple.
-
Step 6
Plan to take some champagne with you on the plane, or ask the company to have champagne on the plane. If possible, speak with the person in charge and see if there is anything else they can do to make the proposal special.
-
Step 7
With security being as tight as it is, you may want to try to go through a separate security check in case your belongings are checked or you are searched. Otherwise, she may see the ring.
-
Step 8
Plan what you would like to say, but do not worry if you forget your lines. Just say what you feel and you can't go wrong!

on 4/3/2009 Re step 2 how did you know I was a lesbian? It doesn't say that on my details. Once I have proposed and she has accepted is it OK for her to take the controls while I drink my champagne?
