Sometimes, the best proposal happens with someone else setting the scene. If you are both movie buffs, for example, you may want to propose during a romantic movie. Follow these steps if proposing during a romantic movie seems like a great idea for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set up your plan so you have everything you need in order to make your proposal go smoothly.

  2. Step 2

See the movie before you propose so you know the right moment--this is a good step whether you are planning to rent the film to watch at home or to take her to a movie theater.

  3. Step 3

Schedule a movie date with your girlfriend. If you're going out, make time for dinner either before or after the film; if you're staying in, consider preparing her favorite meal.

  4. Step 4

Practice what you are planning to say so you can be sure it comes out the right way when you ask.

  5. Step 5

Pick her up for the date, enjoy the film and, when the moment comes, make your proposal.

Tips & Warnings
  • Want to surprise her with the ring and not need to say anything at all? Consider hiding the ring in a bucket of popcorn or a bag or box of her favorite candy.
  • Plan ahead for any questions she might ask about the wedding. In other words, think ahead so she knows you are serious about the proposal and have thought it through.
  • Keep in mind that sometimes others at the movie might get upset about people talking and distracting them from the film if you are planning to go out to a movie to propose.
