Bad lighting, red-eye effect, and unflattering angles can make pets look blurry, angry or frightened in a photograph. With proper lighting and a more unique angle pictures of your pets or animals can greatly improve.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Your pet or animal you want to photograph
  • Camera

Step1
First, avoid using your camera's flash in these pictures. If you must use one try using an eternal flash pointed slightly away from your subject to keep the light from reflecting directly off their eyes.
Step2
Use daytime outdoor light in a yard for a more natural look. If photographing your pets outside is not possible place them near a window with the light coming from the side.
Step3
Try lying on the floor or changing the level you are taking the picture at for a different perspective. Also try using a zoom feature or zoom lens to take close up shots of their face.
Step4
Using great patience, take your pictures and try to capture your pet' s natural poses.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use treats or a favorite toy to get your pet's attention.
  • Have patience. Getting angry and yelling at animals will make them appear unhappy in your photograph.
  • Avoid fluorescent lights that distort your pet's natural colors.
